We have recently spent a week with Penny and David and had a really enjoyable stay.The accommodation was five star and the breakfast, complete with home made bread was great. We are keen photographers and the area lends perfectly for all types of photography from birds, wildlife and of course stunning landscapes. Suggestions for days out from our hosts was invaluable and we managed to visit the Dales, Pennines, lakes and local gardens during our stay. Thank you so much to Penny and Dave for giving us so much of your time and we look forward to seeing you agin.Best wishes from Glyn and Chris Pettit.

Spent a wonderful few days at the Limes. Excellent food, comfortable guest room with outlook over the fields to the beck. A place to chill out and listen to the sounds of nature, or go out and explore this beautiful area. Many thanks Penny and Dave.

The Limes is a Gem waiting to be discovered. If you are touring Northern England or just enroute North to South or vise versa, just step off the beaten track and enjoy this haven of peace and tranquility,Lovely comfortable rooms with great facilities and thoughtful attention to every aspect of your accomodation.Wonderful food, locally produced, and beautifully cooked.Fresh Coffee that is pure Nectar You will be truly spoiled! Dave and Penny are lovely caring hosts and Sam the dog is an absoloute delight. Do not miss this lovely oasis of calm to enhance your travel experience.

What a wonderful place the Limes is! Our room was luxurious and everything was prepared to a very high standard. The cooked breakfast was delicious each day (although healthier options were available). Our room had a delightful view and all mod cons. Penny and Dave are very friendly and helpful hosts providing us with lots of ideas for walking and eating out. We stayed for three nights and wished we could have stayed longer! Highly recommended!

Thank you so much for a wonderful stay - we were staggered with how gorgeous our room was, the amazing view from our window and the wonderful countryside the Limes are nestled within. All the touches you would expect from a top star hotel were there and more, with the warm welcome of a family. Penny's cooking deserves special mention - breakfast is a feast but wait until you try her baking! You won't want to leave - a wonderful place which far surpasses any expectations. Thanks again.

We've just returned home from a lovely two-night stay at "The Limes". Accommodation was excellent, as was the food. Penny and Dave were very welcoming and friendly, and very helpful with recommendations on local restaurants, routes, things to do etc. The Limes is in the peaceful scenic village of Colby, close to the pretty town of Appleby. It's just off the beaten track so as to be in a tranquil setting, but only about 5 mins drive from the A66 so very easy to get around from here. Thanks for a wonderful stay!
