Enjoyed every minute of our 4-day stay and Penny couldn't have been any more helpful. Nothing was any bother for her. We had lovely Indian summer weather throughout and managed a return cruise trip from Pooley Bridge to Glenridding. We also had days in Penrith & Carlisle. Twice we indulged in a fish 'n chip supper at the side of the river Eden in Appleby. The ducks were going quackers for their share of our supper - we left them a bit which they devoured in about 5 seconds !. Happy memories - we will return to The Limes - no doubt.

We loved every minute of our overnight stay. Our comfortable, gorgeous room overlooked a beautiful paddock with sheep and a horse. Everything was clean, fragrant and welcoming, with books and magazines on offer. A trip to Appleby to eat at the Ashiana was a good idea - wonderful curries! Breakfast by Penny was amazing...we loved the home baked bread and preserves. Thank you so much Penny, if we are ever in that neck of the woods again we will definitely stay with you again!

Stayed here on the 19th-20th overnight and was warmly welcomed by Penny. Room was lovely and cosey, spotlessly clean and had amazing views.
Welcome pot of tea and home made Flapjacks were sent up to us,lovely.
Nothing was too much trouble for Penny, even when we knocked on for a toasted sandwich at 9 pm!! Breakfast was delicious, company of other guests was great and watching the birds on the feeders was a joy. Beautiful home, lovely home cooked food, and a warm atmosphere that is very stress free!! Many thanks to the hosts and we will certainly be back :)

I've stayed at the Limes three times this year, just one or two days at a time with friends. Each time we get such a lovely welcome in our comfy twin room, with homemade cake and hot drinks we are soon revived from our travels. The location is beautiful and a welcome retreat from the rush of the city. Penny makes one of the best breakfasts I've had. I heartily recommend this lovely B&B.

The Limes is a peaceful, relaxing and comfortable bed and breakfast in a great location for visiting the Eden Valley or walking in the North Pennines. Penny was welcoming, friendly and helpful. A restful night was followed by an excellent breakfast, including the legendary home made bread and perfect poached eggs every time!

The Limes is a very welcoming base for exploring the surrounding area. Penny's tea & flapjack was much appreciated on our arrival, after a day of walking! A very comfortable room with a lovely breakfast set us up for our exploration of High Cup Nick. Thank you.. We hope to return to see the red squirrels!!

Coming back after our stays at the limes in 2009 and 2012 was like coming home. Penny made us feeling very welcome. We enjoyed the spotless clean and lovely room. Pennys breakfast is excellent. Let us say just one word about Pennys home made bread: Award winning! The best in whole UK!

We had a very enjoyable two night stay at The Limes while attending a wedding in Dufton. The setting is gorgeous - very peaceful and picturesque and our hosts were incredibly generous and welcoming. The room was light and clean and had all desirable amenities including a hairdryer, TV and wifi. The home cooked breakfasts each day were wonderful! Would definitely recommend The Limes, Thank You!
