We had a lovely time. The accomodation is excellent and the location beautiful. High standards and good food can only mean more people are going to stay at the Limes. Thank you Penny and Dave.

We really enjoyed our stay at the limes. It was really relaxing and the countryside was outstanding. A real breath of fresh air! The breakfasts were worth the entrance fee alone - very tasty. Thanks Dave & Penny!

What a wonderful place the Limes is! Our room was luxurious and everything was prepared to a very high standard. The cooked breakfast was delicious each day (although healthier options were available). Our room had a delightful view and all mod cons. Penny and Dave are very friendly and helpful hosts providing us with lots of ideas for walking and eating out. We stayed for three nights and wished we could have stayed longer! Highly recommended!

Thank you so much for a wonderful stay - we were staggered with how gorgeous our room was, the amazing view from our window and the wonderful countryside the Limes are nestled within. All the touches you would expect from a top star hotel were there and more, with the warm welcome of a family. Penny's cooking deserves special mention - breakfast is a feast but wait until you try her baking! You won't want to leave - a wonderful place which far surpasses any expectations. Thanks again.

We've just returned home from a lovely two-night stay at "The Limes". Accommodation was excellent, as was the food. Penny and Dave were very welcoming and friendly, and very helpful with recommendations on local restaurants, routes, things to do etc. The Limes is in the peaceful scenic village of Colby, close to the pretty town of Appleby. It's just off the beaten track so as to be in a tranquil setting, but only about 5 mins drive from the A66 so very easy to get around from here. Thanks for a wonderful stay!

We have stayed at The Limes on three occasions and found it to be just lovely. The views are superb, food excellent, and the beds comfortable, not to mention the warm welcome which Dave and Penny give you.

We stayed in the red room during the half term week in October. We felt the room was great and better than it looked in the gallery pictures.Dave and Penny were fantastic hosts and one of the highlights was waking up to the smell of fresh bread baking in the morning. Breakfast was very good, having a good fry up to set us up for the day ahead.
We also found plenty of excellent pubs recommended by Dave and Penny to have our evening meals in, along the lines of proper sized portions for a very reasonable price in lovely settings with open fires etc etc...
We travelled over to the Lakes and down to the Dales and got plenty of views on a daily basis of the Penines too. There are lots of good walks to do in the local area around the b&b too which Dave and Penny were only too happy to show us and lend maps etc...
All in all we had a lovely time and we would really recommend staying at the Limes if you want a good rest, good hosts, beautiful scenery, and want to be near the Lakes, Dales, Pennines but not trapped by all the tourists everywhere.

Had a very comfortable two night stay - lovely village setting. We stayed in November, but the house was warm and cosy. Great hospitality from Penny & Dave (and well behaved dog Sam)and lots of thoughtful extras e.g. filtered water in our room as well as the usual tea coffee etc. The smell of Penny's home made bread in the morning was better than any alarm clock for getting us out of bed! Lovely shower, only drawback to room was low roof beams but the view was worth it.
