Having spent a day cycling over the Yorkshire dales en route on the Lands End to John o Groats, the Limes couldnt have been a better place for a pair of weary cyclists.
Since walking over the threshold Penny was polite, provided us with tea and cak (a very nice touch) and even provided an area for us to dry our clothes.
A warm and comfortable bedroom was to follow and our host was kind and generous. A beautfiul breakfast in the morning with lovel homemade bread! Cannot fault the stay in any way, if we ever travel past appelby again this is the place to book up. A warm welcome from Penny to The Limes with an unsolicited cup of tea and flapjack set the scene for three quiet nights and three great breakfasts in her spotless home.
There are many thoughtful touches like a flagon of fresh filtered water on the bedroom tea tray, Fox mints by the bedside, a dressing gown and digital tv.

We enjoyed our stay at the Limes. Penny is an excellent host. She served a wonderful breakfast. The smell of fresh bred woke us up. We could strongly recommend this B&B. In area with mountain bike. Fantastic location to reach all good areas for cycling without joining the August Lakeland masses. The Limes is very clean, comfortable and peaceful. Penny is a most friendly host and cooks a mean breakfast! I stay in a lot of B&B and this one I highly recommend.
